  • Tom Dixon Spin Candelabra

Several years ago one of my sister's gave me an absolutely spectacular candleholder. Bought in London and weighing in at almost 15kg's (it's solid cast iron and at the time was packaged in it's own wooden box), she'd brought it back for me as hand luggage!! [Readmore]
  • Moroccan lanterns - back in stock (in limited quantities)

Every so often we come across candle holders so beautiful that even though they mask seeing your beeswax candles in all their glory (!!), they bring something else to the table... in the case of these stunning holders, it's the light patterns that they cast. [Readmore]

  • Hanging glass teardrop candle holders - lighting outdoor areas

With the mercury reaching 38 degrees yesterday in Sydney (and that's on the coast) it was all about being outdoors last night to catch the breeze and that meant firing up tealights in protective glass holders so the breeze didn't blow them out.  And THAT gave me the inspiration for this post and another couple we'll do this week with special offers to boot.

These beautiful, clear glass, hanging teardrop candleholders are incredibly versatile.  I've used them sitting on an outdoor table (they're flat at the base), I've used them indoors (to light up a corner where I didn't have a table with candles on it and to create 'layers' of candlelight at various heights) and, of course, they're perfect for outdoors to hang in trees (or, in my case, off balcony railings)!

With summer in the air, we're doing 2 special offers (offers expire on 27th November 2014 @11.59pm):

Offer 1 - We've got 10% off our Clear Glass Teardrop Candleholders until 27/11/14

Offer 2 (exclusive to blog followers and newsletter subscribers) - For every 5 Teardrop Candleholders you buy, we'll throw in a box of 5 x 4-5hr Beeswax Tealight candles in clear cups (that's the one in the photo) - so you get 10% off the teardrops (saving around $7.50) and the tealights for free (saving a further $14.95 - the equivalent of a further 20% off).  This second offer is only available to those of you who follow us (either on the blog or by getting our newsletter).  So that we know you're in the know, you need to mention "Free Tealights please" in the comments field when you check out.  No mention at the time of ordering, no free tealights.  No arguments!  Again, this offer expires at 11.59pm on 27/11/14.

  • Harnessing the talent within

We know from experience you're a talented bunch so we thought we'd try to harness some of that photographic talent.  To be honest, we're also stretched thin and we really just need help :-)

If you've ever ordered from us online, you would have received a copy of our educational information cards.  Well they're about to run out so we're going to do an overhaul.  In particular, this time I would like to do one which shows some of the imaginative ways of using Bee Lights.  I often speak to customers who don't use them because they don't know what to burn them in... and that's a crying shame as I think they're one of the most beautiful things we make.

So, they say that a picture speaks a thousand words!  Let's show them the million things you can use as a Bee Light candleholder.

Any photographs chosen to go on our new printed info cards will receive a $200 gift voucher to buy any candles they want from Queen B online.  Grab your iPhone or your camera, fire up your Bee Lights and your imagination and send through your results!

    Entries open: NOW!

Entries close: 11th August (that's 2 weeks away)

Entries via: either post them on our Facebook page or post on Instagram and tag @queenbcandles

Stuff to know: By entering you expressly give us permission to use your image in social media and online (that's pretty obvious given you would have posted it online!) and we undertake that anywhere that we use the image we will credit you as the photographer (unless you say you don't want us to)!  For the images used on the printed info cards we will most likely not credit photographers as it can make things look cluttered and messy given the images will be quite small. Here are a few of the idea I had when I first photographed them (you'll see why I need help with the photography)!

  • A little 'light' relief for a Monday morning

One of the wonderful things about having a Sunday/Monday as your weekend is that you don't have to go to work on Monday's.  It's a great time to catch up on things when they're quiet.

Today I've promised myself I'll clear my inbox, which seems to be never-ending because I keep getting distracted :-).  One lovely distraction was a beautiful photograph sent to me by stylist, Meagan O'Donoghue from The Style Palette Co.  I'm always amazed by the talents of our customers.  You're really quite an extraordinary bunch going about your lives choosing to make a difference.  It shouldn't surprise me given what we do, but it does and it is a constant delight.

Anyway, Meagan took a gorgeous photograph of our Mini-Marilyn Bee Light holders with a couple of Bee Lights.  And the thing that struck me as I was deleting volumes of administrative emails was just how simple the candles and the holders are but how nature is so beautiful that you don't need to fussy it up.

brass candleholder with pure beeswax taper dinner candles Mini-Marilyn brass candle holders with Bee Lights

So in the spirit of making it a wonderful day, we're doing a Monday offer today - 20% off Brass Mini-Marilyn candleholders and 20% off the Pack of 10 Bee Lights.  It's spontaneous and open until midnight tonight only.

I can say hand on heart that our Bee Lights will blow your socks off when they're lit.  They are the ultimate testament to the brilliance of nature (and why we are so thorough with our wick testing)!!  They burn for 3 or so hours each (that's several nights of lighting them during dinner from every candle) and they don't drip if they are out of a breeze.

And just in case you don't think that I practice what I preach, here's a view from where I'm sitting right now!!  I did consider replacing the 2 in the background with new candles but decided that it was better just to be completely authentic.  This is how I stay calm on a Monday in the face of 553 unread emails!

I hope you have a wonderful Monday.

    Over and out.

    Cate xx

  • A surprise favourite - The Butterfly Spinner Candleholder

Sometimes the beauty (or beautiful effect) of something catches me a little by surprise... our new Spinning Butterfly Candleholder was just such a thing.  Made from stainless steel, it is pretty to look at, but it really comes to life with a Queen B pure beeswax tealight candle in the bottom of the candle holder.

Putting together this video I was also just loving A Candlelit Window by Ingrid DuMosch (from her Sleep Softly Emily album)... so it went from being a 30 second video to a compilation of the 2 video's that I took just so that it would play more of the song!  Please note that the holder does not play music... that was a feat of brilliance using iMovie!  Jerkiness of the video courtesy of me (and Canon)!

Because we wouldn't want you using the holder in your home with toxic tealights, we've bundled the holder with a pack of our best-selling 4-5 hour beeswax tealight candles (it's the box of 9 of them).
