I bought these trays in the closing down online auction of SA Turning - that's Scott Allsop to those of us who know and love him... the guy who made all of our brass candleholders.
There were two different lots (two different sizes of tray) and I was in a bidding war with one other person... I intended to win one of the lots. I got competitive and ended up winning both 😂. It's your lucky day!!
Scott ran SA Turning which he took over from his dad. His dad bought the trays over 60 years ago from a 90 year old fitter & turner who was retiring... so Scotty and I figure these are over 100 years old.
The smaller trays (still over a ruler length at 34cm long) have the words "Fisholow Sydney" stamped into them. I ran head long into a rabbit hole researching these and here's a little of the information I've found about Fisher & Ludlow (aka Fisholow).

Scuffs and scratches and worn off paint and the patina of an object that has been put to work and lived a useful life. I always imagined I'd set up my toolshed with these, but I no longer have the space for a tool shed!
