Have you ever seen a snow pea being born?

Have you ever seen a snow pea being born?

Warning: this post has absolutely nothing to do with pure beeswax candles or Queen B! One of my resolutions this year was to try to have a little more balance in my life. Making beeswax candles started as a hobby. It was my creative outlet outside of full-time work. Once I started doing Queen B full-time it was so engaging on every level, and so demanding, that I forgot about balance. Upon trying to implement my new resolution I realised, however, that I had worked 7 days a week for so long that I had actually forgotten how to relax. And in the back of my mind there was always this demanding infant business where the work is never done. So, after not doing anything about it for weeks, I decided that I'd practice 'active relaxation' instead! I'd plant a veggie patch on my balcony. With my trusty guide (the Australian Edition of Grow Vegetables by Alan Buckingham) in hand, I made up a couple of wooden planter boxes. What a delight to grow things. Just as good as making things! The first thing I do when I get home every day (regardless of the time) is to go onto the balcony to see what's been going on. Note to any aspiring veggie growers - plant brussel sprouts (even if you don't like the taste) because they grow so quickly that there is a noticeable difference EVERY DAY. It is fabulous. I absolutely enchanted today to notice that snow peas actually grow out of the flower. OK, I probably should have known that, but I didn't. It is so beautiful, I thought I'd share...
